Cadiz - Language Immersion Program                                   2 weeks Plus

INTRODUCTION

This long length program has been designed to improve the Spanish level of the students or to learn the basic concepts of the language in the case of basic levels. The course combines classes and activities conveniently coordinated with the intention of allowing the student to learn and enjoy as much as possible.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

ACADEMICS

Classes take place in the mornings and they are divided in four modules of 45 minutes each. During the first two modules (10:00 – 11:30), students practice the grammar tends toward objectives that have a communicative character. After the break (11:30 – 12:00), students practice in a dynamic and practical way this interchange in out-of-class exercises.

There would be from 5 to 12 students per class. Our teachers are all graduated in several foreign languages and the have been selected by our Academic Department following a rigorous criteria and process.

All class materials are provided by the Instituto San Fernando.

GOALS

For the Intermediate and Higher levels, we have marked as our main objective to improve the grammar knowledge in a pleasant and practical way. We stress the importance of the communication skills by developing out- of- class workshops: visit to the local markets, street interviews, work in groups, etc. with the goal of obtaining the maximum development of each student’s communication skills.

We “make the most” of the educational environment that the City offer.

For the beginner or basic levels, we base our courses more in the classroom work. We pretend that, at the end of the course, the student would achieve basic and practical notions of the language so that, they can cope with simple real-life situations: in a restaurant, in a Mall, in the airport, in a train station, etc…At the same time, we reinforce their basic knowledge of the grammar.

EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL DAY

After having breakfast at home, students will make their way to the Instituto San Fernando that will be no farther than 15 minutes walking. Once they get there they will start their classes (at 10:00). Classes finish at 13:30 and it then when our teachers usually solve possible doubts and when our coordinators inform the students about the planned activities for the evenings. Students get back home to have lunch and when they are finished they still have time to sleep the “typical siesta”.

Around 17:00 (depending on the activity) students go back to the Instituto San Fernando here the coordinator is waiting for them to carry out the organised activity.

When they are finished, they have free time to have a walk around the city. At 21:00 or so, they are supposed to get back home to have dinner together with their families.

PRICE AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM

The price of our summer study abroad program includes: all travel costs between the cities included in the program, excursions and trips, registration fee, lodging, meals and much more. We have no hidden fees, extra cost or surprises. We recommend you to check other programs to see what they included in their prices. You will see that we offer very competitive prices and high quality programs.

The price for the Cadiz 2 weeks programPlus is:

The price covers everything except personal expenses, such as shopping, eating out of your house or in a restaurant by choice, taking taxis, medicines or certain optional activities going beyond the planned program. If you arrive to Cadiz after 21:00 hrs, the families will not pick the students up from the meeting point due to the late arrival. If this is the case, students should take a taxi from the meeting point established by ISF to their host families houses. The costs of these taxis are not cover by Instituto San Fernando. The pick up service from/to Jerez de la Frontera airport (Cadiz) is included. In case you arrive to Seville airport you will have to pay a supplement of 60 € per person (for individual students) and 25€ per person (for groups of 5 students or more). This supplement will cover both ways. The specified prices do not include the cost of urban transportation in Cadiz.

Specifically, the price includes:

• Registration fee.
• 20 lessons a week.
• Class materials.
• A complete program of activities: Flamenco lessons, salsa lessons, ceramic workshop, sailing lessons in Cadiz Bay, etc.
• Cultural visits in Cadiz.
• Entrance to specified monuments.
• ISF Coordinator accompanies the group during all planned activities and visits.
• Attendance and student achievement certificate.
• Student ID Card.
• Carefully chosen Spanish families home stay. 2 students per family.
• Full board (3 meals a day).
• Transportation from Jerez de la Frontera airport - family meeting point -Jerez de la Frontera airport.
• Reception and assitance by an ISF Coordinator at the arrival.
• Program orientation upon arrival.
• 1 day excursion to Seville.
• 1day excursion to Vejer, Tarifa and Bolonia.
• ISF Coordinator accompanies the group during all planned excurions.
• Transports during the excursions.
• Entrance to specified monuments.
• 1/2 day excursion to Puerto de Santa Maria(Cadiz).
• Welcome afternoon snack and Farewell dinner.
• Medical and life insurance (medicines not included)
• 24 hours on-site support.
• All taxes included.
